Screening of algae collected from Nha Trang bay, Vietnam, for potential cosmeceutical bioproducts

As marine seaweeds are a great source of natural products, investigating biological properties for appropriate management and exploitation is priority. For our study, we collected extracted indigenous algal samples from areas Nha Trang bay belonging to nine species Chlorophyta, Rhodophyta, Ochophyta investigate their cosmeceutical activities. Results revealed tyrosinase inhibitory activity methanolic extracts Halimeda sp. Ulva lactuca with 57.17 ± 1.70% 54.32 0.52% inhibition, respectively. Additionally, U. lactuca, Sargassum mcclurei, S. aquifolium were found perform moderate scavenging capacity against DPPH free radicals. By the colorimetric method, algae determined exhibit no potent cytotoxic effect on both fibroblast cell line NIH-3T3 keratinocyte HaCaT at test concentration 20 µg/mL thus considered promising further safety evaluation. The investigation provides information activities highlights candidates application significance.
